Store Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to. 6 p.m.
Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Job Summary

We seek a Compounding Lab Pharmacy Receptionist/Aide to join our team! As our Pharmacy Receptionist/Aide, you will be helping customers find the merchandise they need within the store, collect prescriptions from customers, input all important information into the system, and accept payment for prescriptions and small purchases. You will also be answering the phone, fielding basic questions, referring customers to the compounding pharmacist as needed, taking inventory and putting it away, and assisting the compounding pharmacist in other duties as needed. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, has strong customer service skills, and can uphold the highest level of confidentiality.

Main Responsibilities & Duties

  • Performs administrative duties, including answering phones, receiving, and inputting prescription orders, operating cash registers, and restocking inventory.
  • Accept prescriptions from both new and returning patients
  • Gathers, organizes, inputs, and assesses patient information.
  • Assist customers in finding merchandise within the store
  • Field questions from customers, and refer them to the pharmacist as needed
  • Takes inventory of drugs on hand and records results.
  • Places orders for additional drugs as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Maintains electronic patient information.
  • Prepares billing information for medications.
  • Completes patients' sales transactions for prescription and over-the-counter medications and other pharmaceutical products.
  • Comply with ethical standards.
  • Perform of daily business operations through accuracy of work and compliance with regulations.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, and comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment
  • The ability to multitask and shift priorities, as needed

Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High School diploma or higher
  • 1-3 years in a customer service role, retail pharmacy is a plus
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English commensurate with college-level education
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Hawthorne Pharmacy’s compounding lab structure, standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Pass drug screening and background check.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • May require prolonged standing.
  • Able to move up to 25 lbs. (small equipment, supplies, etc.)
  • Must hear staff and patients on the phone and those served in person and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • Must adequately read memos, a computer screen, registration forms, and other clinic documents.
  • Ability to use general office equipment such as a computer, copy machine, telephone, etc.
